Last stop.....

Our last stopover in the Scrapboutique Postcards of the World competition was Greenland!
Whoever would have guessed it?!?!   I was sure it was going to be in Australia - somewhere in the outback!  Can't get much further from being wrong...LOL

I love this weeks postcard....the gorgeous blue's in the pictures....and then the little splash of colour in the little cottages in the village - Beeeeeautiful.

I took inspiration from the white & the different shades of blue.  I really wanted to somehow add the splashes of colour, but ended up just sticking with the blue & white.

Here is my LO inspired by Greenland...

Love how this turned out :)
My 2 little darlings many years ago.....back when they were cute! LOL

I have been scrapping a fair bit this week....but nothing that I can share just yet!
Here are a few sneaky peeks coming up soon...

Almost the weekend.....yay.

Just 5 more days....

to get your Kraft it up entries in for May's challenge!
Entries close 8pm on the 31st..... so still plenty of time. There have been some awesome LO's sent in already, so head on over to the KIU Blog and check them out!

And for those who need reminding.... May's challenge is.....You need to use KRAFT and you must create your OWN PAPER, whether it is your background paper (Kraft) or you opt to create some patterned paper to use on your page.  This must be created by stamping, misting, masking or painting and you can use any medium inks, glimmermist, texture paints, gel mediums, paints, crackle paints etc...

Have fun with it....and looking forward to seeing lots more entries for this fab challenge  :)

Konnichiwa

From Japan!

This week we visited Japan in the Scrapboutique postcards of the world competition.
I just LOVE the colours in this weeks postcard....and here is my LO for this week....

I took inspiration from the red, yellow, orange, green & black from the postcard.  We also had to use a paper technique that gave dimension - eg. paper folding.  I have made a pleated/scrunched flower, plus a strip of pleated paper....and some quilled circles - which represent the pebbles mentioned in the postcard - as well as the brads.....My pic is of the Japanese Gardens at Cowra.

Here are a few more LO's that I've done this week.....

This one was for the Scrapboutique "By the book"  cyber crop that started last night.
It was for Chelsea's speed scrap (that got turned into an all weekend kind of thing...LOL)
We had to do a LO like a newspaper/magazine article - with a headline (title)...and at least 50 words of journaling written like a news article.  I chose to do my story about the cows on Norfolk Island...and how they have right of way!

& this one is for Manon's May stash stomper challenge, at Scrapboutique.
To do our LO's based on a sketch, plus to use up ribbons &/or decorative edged papers.
It feels so good to use up bits & pieces that have been in your stash for yonkers.....I think that's why I love these stash stompers so much!

Well, I must get on with my weekend chores :(
Looks like it is going to be a beautiful day here....thanks for dropping by, & have a good one!

Weekend Motocross

Although I hate the early morning starts (usually leaving home around 6.30am - eeek), I LOVE spending Sunday's at motocross....I love the atmosphere - the noise.....the dust.....the smell of the fumes....the anticipation at the starting gates.....the roar of the 2 strokes & the 4 strokes as they take off, full throttle, from the starting gates towards that first corner....it's exciting & it's exhillarating....and that's just from a spectators point of view! - I really can't imagine what it's like for the guys & gals (yep, you'd be surprised at the amount of girls/ladies that are right into motocross!) out there....the adrenelin rush that they get from it must be so totally awesome!

I also love trying to get some awesome photos while Joel is out on the track - I often go out flagging, just so that I can get out there amongst it all, where there are so many great photo opportunites.  Out of about 200 or so photos taken on the day....there's probably only a dozen or so that I'm usually pretty happy with - it's just really hard to get that perfect shot when the bikes are speeding past you at such a fast speed. I also love the sitting around & talking & eating between races - it's all just a great family day out for us :)

So, I thought I would share some pics from last Sunday's day at the track.....

So casual & calm looking at the starting gates- although I'm sure his heart is racing at a million miles per hour!

30 seconds to go.....

and they're off!

approaching one of the smaller jumps

weeeee  (lol...he'd kill me if he seen that)

Trying to bag the red guy up...

and yes....he's got him!

Over the big tabletop....and straight into a left hand bend

Then ready for the next right hand bend

I really liked this shot...even though it's quite blurry - it gives a bit more perception of just how fast they go out on the track.

Race is over....and it's into the pits.

Hope you all enjoyed your little tour of the motocross track :)

Not much to share on the scrapping scene....just one LO that I did on the weekend using the May girl kit from Bon's...

Hopefully, I will be back soon with some more scrappy shares :)
Hope everyone is having a great week!

G'day from India....

This is our postcard for this weeks destination in the Postcards of the World competition over at Scrapboutique.  I just love the colours of india.....from the brights of the sari's & the elephants costume - to the earthy colours of the spices & the henna decorated hands - just gorgeous!
I didn't have alot of time this week to spend on my LO (life just got in the way of my scrapping plans each day this week...grrrrr  lol).....but this is what I came up with....

I tried to incorporate both the bright colours & the earthy tones into my LO - plus (of course) some jewels & some bling.
I am really enjoying the competition so far - each weeks destination is so different & so interesting.
I can't wait to find out what next weeks destination will be!

And here's 2 more LO's to share....

This one is my April WIOIN year in review entry.
A few weekends ago DH & I went on an impromtu drive to a tiny little village, Gundaroo - such a gorgeous little place.

LO about the ghost dinner tour we did on Norfolk Island & the ghost of Elizabeth Robertson.
There is a pull-out journal card under the photo (using the cardboard packaging from some prima bling)

That's all from me, for now - hope everyone has a top weekend :)
Thanks for dropping by!

New York, New York....

Is this weeks destination for the Scrapboutique Postcards of the world comp!
The other criteria for this week was to use a song title or lyrics as either a title or in your journaling....here is our postcard!

I drew inspiration from the obvious colours, red, white & blue....plus the yellow of the taxi cabs.
I also incorporated the stars & stripes of the star spangled banner into my LO

I chose Midnight Oil's song "Power & the Passion" for my title - & a pic of DS racing motocross - he loves the power & it's one of his biggest passions :)   This weeks destination was sooooo different to the past 2 weeks, which inspired more girly type LO's - I loved doing this weeks destination!

I wonder where we are off to next week?!?!
I can't wait to find out!

Here are a few other LO's that I've done since my last blog post.....

This one is for the May Stylists challenge over at Scrapboutique.
To use a calendar of some sort plus 2 office supplies on your layout.
My office supplies were the 2 clips, plus pieces of a chopped up manilla folder.

And this one was just something I did at the weekly crop I go to in town.
Again using the handmade flowers of Alisa Burke's tutorial that I posted about in a previous post.

Thanks for dropping by....and please don't be too shy about leaving a comment - I would love to hear from you! :)

Kraft it Up May challenge.....

Sorry that this is going up a bit late - Mel over at KIU has been away for a few days, so I have been waiting for her to put this months challenge up on the KIU blog before putting it here.

So, for this months challenge....

You need to use KRAFT (of course) and you must create your OWN PAPER, whether it is your background paper (Kraft) or you opt to create some patterned paper to use on your page.

This must be created by stamping, misting, masking or painting and you can use any medium inks, glimmermist, texture paints, gel mediums, paints, crackle paints etc...

Check out what the CT have come up with on the KIU blog....to get some ideas to get your inspiration flowing!!

Here is my sample layout....

I used glimmermist & the leftover piece of chipboard from a used up Heidi Swapp alpha sheet as a mask to create my background on the kraft cardstock.
I'm sure we all have some of these laying around.....so easy to do too!

Lots of great prizes up for grabs again this month.....so why not give it a go!?!?!
