Scrap Friends - July sketch

Hello there everyone....thought I would squeeze in one more challenge layout before the end of the month, and I couldn't go past the fabo sketch at Scrap Friends :)))

Here is what I came up with...sticking true to the sketch

I went for some natural tones with this one to help match in with my photos, which are from our trip to Port Arthur In Tasmania 18 months ago.
Papers I've used are BoBunny & Basic Grey....and some REALLY OLD Tim Holtz journal tickets popping out from the photos, as well as some washi tape across the top & bottom..

Here is the sketch

Now for some close ups
My cluster, using some Prima, Manor House & Kaisercraft flowers....and the branch with leaves & blossoms is hand cut using Crafters Workshop Cherry Blossom template.

Here is a better view of the cherry blossoms.....
I used gesso mixed with paint to mask with the CW template on some fairly thick cardstock, then once dry I fussy cut it all out (I know...crazy!!) then I added some stickles for a bit of texture.  I then decided I wasn't happy with the colour that I had mixed with the gesso, so I mixed up a concoction of all sorts of things (paint, mists & more gesso) to finally get a colour I was happy with.  When it was all finally dry, I then added some brown stickles AGAIN with some light inking over the top once it was all dry (lots of patients was needed with all the drying today! lol)

I'm quite happy with the end result, so well worth the effort & patience :)

Some hand made fabric covered buttons

Journaling with some template & stamping work....again, using my Gelatos :)))

Title using some really old Pink Paislee & Prima alpha stickers

And an overall close up shot

Well, that's all for now folks :)
Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend & also your week ahead.
Thanks for dropping by...xxx

I love everything about this layout Linda, the colours are so well suited to these photos and the best of all you've used up some of your stash. The cherry blossom looks really good with the different techniques used - love it.

Hi Linda... just found your blog... didn't know how I could find it and clicked on your name by mistake and here I am... just goes to show you are NEVER to old to learn.
I love this layout and all the hard work on those blossoms, well worth the effort and your photos are lovely. I was engaged to a Tasmanian - way back before I met my hubby and at the last minute I got cold feet and called it off.. It was a hell of a long way from home (Zimbabwe) and I didn't know if I could do it. So nice to see the place.
Thank you so much for always visiting my blog and taking the time to leave me a comment I really really appreciate it :D <3
