Anzac Day

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning
We will remember them.

Coincidently, I have a layout to share that is fitting with today, being Anzac Day.
It contains a photo that I found on the Australian War Memorial website, that I thought may have my Grandfather in it, who served in WW1.  The photo is of a group of men from the 3rd reinforcement of the 45th Battalion - of which my Grandfather was a part of.  The man on the second back row, on the far right, looks alot like my Grandfather....but I just couldn't tell for sure if it was him.

I showed the photo to my Mum, and she too was unsure if it could be her Dad (he had died when she was only 4 years old, so she only has old photos to go by, and even most of them, he looks so different in each of them)....plus the photo on the website was quite small, which also made it hard to get a really good look, to know for sure if it was him.  We decided that we would buy the photo on disc from the Australian War Memorial, and at least then, we'd be able to get a much closer look & hopefully be able to tell for sure if it was him.  The disc arrived in the mail about a week or so ago....and as soon as I got it, I whacked it into the computer & zoomed in to get a real good close up of the man that we thought could be him.  Even though there are many similarities of the man in the photo & my Grandfather, we still can't be 100% sure if it is him or not - as I said before, all the previous photos we have of him, taken during the war, he looks so different in each of them, so that makes it just that little bit harder to actually "know"  whether it is him or not.  Even so, we are pleased that we bought the disc & now have the photo....whether he is in it or not....the photo still contains the men that he served with.....men that would have been his mates.

Using some leftover Basic Grey papers & stickers from my DT pack from Redearth Scrapping
(there is a jounal card in under the photo that contains the story behind the photo & my Grandfather.

TFL & thanks for dropping by :-)

Stuck?!

I'm a tad late in revealing my 15th April Stuck?! sketch layout....it went up on the Stuck?! blog a few days ago, but life has been pretty hectic & I just haven't gotten around to blogging it until now.

Here is the sketch.....

And here is my take on it.....

I have mirrored the sketch....and added some mist splatters as the extra criteria for the sketch challenge over at Redearth Scrapping (used with permission), which was to add some paint/mist splatters to your layout.
If you'd like to give the RES challenge a go, you can check it out here on the RES forum....and of course,  also enter your layout for the Stuck?! competition as well :-)

Speaking of Redearth scrapping....have you seen this?

All I can tell you ....for now, is that it's going to be BIG....and fun!!!
Keep your eye out on the RES forum for all the details that will be revealed......soon *wink*

Some RES scrapping....

Hello fellow bloggers....how is everyone's weekend shaping up?
No rain here atm, but it's looking very much like it's going to....and it has warmed up a tad, which is another fairly good sign that rain is on it's way.  Oh well...rainy days = perfect scrappy time!
Not alot happening here over the weekend....just some motocross tomorrow, if it's not too wet!

Anyways...On to some scrappy shares :-)

I have another 2 layouts using the Basic Grey goodies from my Redearth Scrapping DT kit .....

This was a humungous coconut crab that we seen at Lifou Island....OMG I can't believe I touched it!!!  LOL

Miss Kate trying to pat a cow at Norfolk Island.  She tried and tried to convince one to come close (& there are lots of them, everywhere...even wandering all over the roads)....but she was unsuccessful - the cows just weren't that friendly.  LOL

Both layouts are using the Basic Grey "Hello Luscious" 6x6 paper pad.
This little paper pad has been quite a pleasant surprise....it is so versatile & so easy to scrap with!  I am loving it :-).  I have also used the Basic Grey "Hello Luscious" Paper doiley ribbon (comes in a pack of 3 with 3 different colours - Red, Yellow & Lime Green ....and 3 different designs)...they too are so easy to use, just peel off the backing & they are self adhesive!  Too easy!  There's also some of the BG "Hello Luscious" Title stickers...and some BG "Life of the party" alpha stickers....Plus a few pieces of odds & ends from my stash.  All products are available in the RES shop HERE

Anyone having a scrappy weekend?
I'm hoping to squeeze some in over the weekend....after all the monotonous house stuff is done!
Thanks for dropping by....& I would love to hear from you, so if you would like to leave a commnet, it would be greatly appreciated  :-)

A few random facts about me.....

When Helen from Redearth Scrapping sent me the gorgeous BG "Hello Luscious" 6x6 paper pad that was part of the fantastic pile of DT goodies that she sent me for March, I thought it would be perfect for a mini album that I've had laying around for years....it was the perfect size & all I did was round the corners with a corner punch....added a bit of paint before sticking the PP's down...used a heap of the gorgeous BG paper doiley ribbons...lots & lots of alpha stickers (Echo Park - For the record & BG - Life of the party) & the mini album was starting to take shape!

Then to finish it off, I've added a few buttons, stickers, rubons, chipboard, diecuts & flowers from my stash.....and this is the end result.....

(question....is the page above the right way up?)
For some strange reason when I uploaded it, it was on its side - no matter how many times I re-tried it was still sideways!!!  All the other pages were fine...just this one! So, I've now rotated it on its side & re-saved it, and now it appears to be the right way up!!!  go figure!
So, I'm wondering if it's just me that was seeing it sideways & now the right way up?!?!
but maybe to everyone else it is now sideways????  LOL

I'm really happy with how this came out.....& it all came together really quickly
(once all the paint dried!).
The little denim pocket I cut from an old pair of jeans....the little coin pocket at the front - I think it looks rather cute!

Anyways....just a quick post - time for bed!
TFL & Happy scrapping :-)

Guest designer

Late last year, Suzanne, from Handmade by Suzanne, asked me if I'd be interested in being a guest designer for April 2011 - of course I jumped at the chance & said YES!

I received my kit of goodies on Tuesday & after a quick trip to Sydney on Wednesday, I have been eagerly awaiting for the April sketch challenge to be revealed, so that I could base my first LO on the sketch.
So, this afternoon I have been scrapping :-)

Here is the April sketch....

And here is my layout......

Using the following goodies from my kit - Basic Grey "Hello Luscious" papers, Kaisercraft paper blooms, Basic Grey "Life of the party" micro mono alpha stickers, Websters lace trim....and a few bits & bobs from my stash.

Handmade by Suzanne has such an amazing amount and variety of scrapbooking supplies instore - If you'd like to go check it out, I'm sure you'll be pleasantly surprised!

Thanks for dropping by....and I hope everyone has a top weekend!

1st April Stuck?! ......

Happy April Fools Day!!!  lol

I don't have any tricks up my sleeve or anything like that....just sharing the 1st April Stuck?! sketch
I love the simplicity of this sketch....I think it is a real "classic"

And here is my sample layout.
I have used a 5x7 landscape photo, rather than 2 portrait photos as shown in the sketch.
Using some MME "So Sophie" that's been in my stash for a year or so....some lace, ric-rac, mixture of flowers, a few brads, CB butterfly...and I had a little play with some paint & a stencil.
I quite like how this one turned out - lurrrve the colours!

Photo is of the stunning jetty at Lifou - one of the islands we visited on our cruise last year.'

You can check out the first half of the CT samples that are now up on the Stuck?! blog for some inspiration - & then  check back in a few days time for the 2nd half of the CT release.
Entries to be uploaded to the Stuck?! blog by 11.59pm on 30th April to be in the running for some great prizes!!!.  Hope you will all give this one a go!

Once again, we are using the Stuck?! sketch over at Redearth scrapping as our monthly sketch challenge....with some added criteria.  For April, RES' theme is paint, mists & inks....so to tie in with the theme, my added criteria for the 1st April sketch challenge is to use paint/mist/ink with either a template or masking.  So if you'd like to give the challenge a go, head on over to Redearth Scrapping where you can check out all the details.  I'd love to see some of my blog readers come along and participate :-)

Thanks for dropping by & happy scrapping :-)
