Colour palette challenge

Hi everyone...hope you are all well.
I have a layout to share today (I know, it's been a while!) for a challenge over at Scrap Friends.

The challenges over at Scrap Friends have been on my "to do list" for quite a while now, but the months always seem to run out before I get a chance to do them....but yesterday afternoon, I had a few hours to spare, so I got stuck into the Colour Palette challenge #6

And this is what I came up with....

This is the yummy colour palette....

I not only based my layout on the gorgeous colour palette, but I also took inspiration from the entire image itself...and kind of used it as a sketch :)

Some close ups...

Cluster of Manor House & Kaiser blooms...with some 2crafty chicken wire & skeleton leaves.

A better close up of the chicken wire

And some more 2crafty - Pretty Butterfly

This colour palette is a little different for me...but I really loved playing along & also love how my layout has turned out.  Pic is of DD & I...and journaling about our relationship & being more than just her mum :)

And while we're talking about Scrap Friends....lucky me was one of the winners of their Birthday Candy giveaway earlier this month.  I have received my goodies from Angela...and WOW it is jam packed full of such gorgeous PRIMA goodness.

Thanks so much Angela!! :)

Until next time....Thanks so much for dropping by & for your lovely comments :)  xx

Sketchabilities...

Yay, I've finally had a chance to scrap!  And sketch #77 at Sketchabilities is just what I needed to get myself into my creative space....it's another fabulous sketch by Karan Gerber :)

and here is my take on it....

Using some yummy Carta Bella "Beautiful Moments" papers & of course, some fabulous 2crafty chipboard...with some misting & texture past on the background...that again, didn't quite go to plan! lol

The sketch...

And some close ups...

The scroll under the photo is the 2crafty Wrought Iron....and I've simply given it a couple of coats of gesso (dabbed on rather than brush strokes) & then lightly inked to highlight with pinecone ink

and I've done the same thing with the piece I cut from the Ornate Fence

The Funky Hearts, I ran through my Cuttlebug using a script embossing folder...then gesso'd & painted the smaller heart with Burnt Red Glimmermist...and lightly swiped the edges of the larger heart to help it stand out against the white bits of the photo.

And the rest of my cluster

Pic is a family shot from a month or so ago in a local canola field <3

Thanks so much for dropping by....I'm planning to visit everyone's blogs over the next few days - fingers crossed that things go to plan!

Enjoy your weekend peeps... xxx

Week 2 of FMS October photo a day....

My goodness...where did the last week go?!
Well I know they say that time flies when you're having fun, so maybe that's why it went so fast...because for 1/2 of the week, hubby & I managed to get away for a few days to the Blue Mountains...and OMG it snowed while we were there...and it's supposed to be spring time!!! lol

Anyways...it was a heap of fun & so beautiful to see everything covered in snow...loved it :)

Ok, so on with my 2nd week of pics for the Fat Mum Slim October photo a day challenge....

8.  Angle - One of the statues in my backyard, taken at an angle

9.  Red - Juicy ripe truss tomatoes sitting on red checkered picnic plates

10.  Emotion - Sad - somehow he just knew we were going away & was so sad :(

 11.  Up Close - A Waratah that I spotted while on one of our walks in the Blue Mountains National Park

 12.  On the table - the Essentials...lol

 13.  Landscape - Bridal Veil Falls, Blue Mountains National Park.
(you don't wanna know how many steps I had to descend to get this pic!..which meant I had to climb them all, all the way UP to get back to the top of that cliff edge!)

 13.  Landscape - View from Evans Lookout - Blue Mountains National Park
(it was really hard choosing which pic for today - I took sooo many landscape photos while walking The Grand Canyon walk ...it was hard enough to just choose 2, let alone 1, so you get 2 pics for the price of 1 today...lol)

14.  Makes me laugh - DH & DD, they are both as crazy as each other and ALWAYS making me laugh :)

I don't have any scrapping to share again this post....I've been too busy galavanting through the amazing bush in the awesome country of ours....hopefully soon I'll have something to share though :)

I owe lots of people a blog visit too...so hoping to catch up on that over the coming days as well!
Until then.....take care & enjoy your week :) xx

October sketch...

As I promised...I've given the October sketch a go at The Scrapbook Store  :)

Here is my take on it.....

I've replaced the large circle in the sketch for a hand cut hexagon frame.

October 2012 Sketch Competition

Here I've used a 2crafty Motocross title....that I cut up into 3 pieces to better suit the sketch.
There are lots & lots of layers under what you see....because I just couldn't get the colours right, until finally I settled on this...lol

And here is the 3rd piece that I cut up....with the same layered treatment as above.
There's also a Lil'  Red Rocket spotted button & some LRR airmail twine in there as well.

Okie doke...that's it from me, keeping it short & sweet as it's getting quite late.
Daylight saving started here today, so I'm feeling a bit ripped off with time today...lol
Until next time...happy scrapping :)  xx

Addicted...

I just love the challenge over at KIU this month...to use mist techniques on kraft :)

Seeings that I managed to tie a few days off work, in with yesterday's public holiday, to give me a week & half off work (YAY)....I've spent the afternoon scrapping, and first on my list for this months challenges was the KIU challenge.

Here is what I came up with using Basic Grey "Clippings" that I bought as a kit from Paper Stories - I am loving this range!

The background masking didn't quite turn out like I had wanted - It kinda spread too far...lol.
I've had this happen to me a few times....maybe I need to mark out where I'm going to mask before actually doing it or something...any tips???
Then I've randomly misted with a few different mists to try and give it a grungy type effect & to make the gesso masking not look so plain & so white.

In my cluster I've used some 2crafty - chipboard cogs - gesso'd & then simply inked.
And there's also a gorgeous Lil' Red Rocket vintage tag that went so well with the theme of my layout.  Loving those alpha's too - Studio Calico - countryside printed chipboard alpha's <3

And the reason behind the Addicted title....because my DH is totally obsessed with cycling!  He even admits that he is addicted!  To ride over 100km on a Sunday morning is just like a stroll in the park to him...lol.  He even takes his bike on the back of his truck & rides whenever he gets a chance ...especially if there's holdups etc.

Another piece of 2crafty chipboard cog - cut from the same piece in the main cluster.
No point wasting it in behind where it's not going to be seen!

And some more Lil' Red Rocket goodness...some grey & white bakers twine wrapped around the photo matt.

And some stickers from the Clippings sticker sheet.

So, that's all from me for now....who knows when I'll be back to share some more creations.
Hopefully the mojo will stay with me and it won't be too long.

Take care...and thanks for dropping by! xx
