First layout...

Over at Scrap Friends they are having a lot of fun sharing their very first layouts created...so I thought I'd join in on the fun too :)

To be honest, I really do not remember which layout was the very first one I created...I have no clue!
But I know that this one I'm about to share was one created in the first few months of me starting to scrap....which would have been approximately 2002

Isn't it a lot different to how I scrap now?? lol
Or can you see me & my style in there just a little bit?

The torn piece at the very top is Vellum
something I don't ever use anymore...I don't even have any in my stash.

The 3 little rose things at the bottom are something I used to buy a lot of....and still have some stashed away somewhere.  They are Rebecca Sower - Fresh Cuts...I used to love them!
Brads & buttons were usually a feature on my pages too....and journaling - I've always loved to journal & tell the story.

This story is about my Grandparents & it reads {in case you can't see it}.....

"This photo of my maternal Bentley granparents was taken in 1945 as they were walking down George Street in Sydney.  The story behind the photo is that Nan is pregnant with their last child, Aunty Kaye, and that she was annoyed with Grandfather because he wouldn't put out his cigarette, and had taken his tie off!  Hence the body language in Nan and the distance between them as they walked!"

If you'd like to join in on sharing your first layout....head on over to the Scrap Friends blog!

Cheers...xx

C'est Magnifique January sketch...

Hi everyone...just a quick post to share my take on the C'est Magnifique January sketch....

Using the gorgeous November C'est Magnifique kit, with 7 Dots Studio "Domestic Godess" papers, that I won on their blog hop last year (thanks again Leslie!  I'm still slowly getting through this amazing kit & plan to use up every last bit)

And here is this months fabulous sketch that my layout is based on ....

And now for some close ups

I had a heap of fun with the background for this....lots of texture paste,  mesh tape & punched borders & butterflies, covered with more stamped texture paste, gesso & mists...so I hope the photos show just how textury this is, as I love it!

Photo is from a trip to Melbourne with work friends. We all had the same shirts on that we had made up (I won't tell you about what we had embroided on them....it's a little bit cheeky! lol), and we came across these 2 pink ladies in the perfume department in Myers...just had to get a photo of a few of the girls with them :)

Thanks so much for dropping by....enjoy your day! xx

Keeping the Best - sketch #52

Hey there lovelies...how is everyone enjoying their long weekend??
I am loving it ....in fact, I think it should be law that there's a long weekend EVERY weekend...lol
Wishful thinking there though, eh!

I'm back to share another layout I created last night for Sketch #52 which was created by Svetlana Austin at Keeping the Best

Using some of the gorgeous Kaisercraft Pickled Pear collection, Manor House Creations flowers, and of course, some 2crafty chipboard......

And this is the sketch....

And now for some close ups....

Here you can see where I've used a leftover piece of 2crafty Fencing Wire Panel
And that little camera?  That is a stamp that I scored at a Typo shop while down in melbourne...and, I had a little experiment with heat embossing it...came up pretty good!!  Thanks go to Lizzy Hill for all her helpful tips & advice she gave me!! :) :) :)

This close up is showing one of the gorgeous 2crafty Bird baths...complete with cute little bird :)

My title <3

And this is another 2crafty chipboard piece....Graceful Butterfly , that I also had fun embossing!

I'm not sure if you can see them too well here...but there are a couple of skeleton leaves at the bottom of the large Manor House Creations flower....they were a creamy/natural kind of colour, but I misted them in a grey/black mist to help them stand out  & to fit in with the colours of my layout better.

I really enjoyed working with this gorgeous sketch.

Thanks so much for dropping by to see my work :)
Have a great day everyone...xx

Hello there peeps...how has everyone's week been so far?  Hope everyone is surviving the heat!

Just a quick post tonight to share a layout for the Dec/Jan sketch challenge at Paper Stories.
This is what I came up with....

Using some fairly old MME papers, 2crafty chipboard and some gorgeous Green Tara flowers that I won from the lovely & generous Eila Sandberg that were purchased from Di Garling's,  Di's Scrapbooks.  Thanks so much Eila!! (and Di) mwahhhh

And here is the sketch that I rotated 90deg anti-clockwise

And now a few close ups....

Here is a close up of 2 of the flowers from Eila...the Apricoty coloured one as well as the white one at the front....love them!  And the 2crafty doily at the base of my cluster

This piece is the stunning 2crafty Fifi's Flourish...love it!

And my title

And another small cluster with some more MME papers & washi tape along the top.

Photos are from The Great Ocean Road....at one of the structures called "London Bridge", but unfortunately, part of the structure collapsed a few years ago.  Hence my title :)

Thanks so much for popping by & leaving any comments....muchly appreciated

Scrap Friends sketch #9

Good evening fellow scrappers...how is everyone today?

Just a quick post tonight to share a layout I scrapped over the weekend, and it's for ScrapFriends sketch #9

Here is what I came up with using another pic from our recent trip down to The Great Ocean Road...

Apologies for the not so good pic

As the title says, the photo is from the amazing Bay of Martyrs...it was nothing short of beautiful!
I've used up leftover pieces of quite a few different My Minds Eye ranges....and there's also a few little leftover pieces of 2crafty chipboard in there as well - ATC Flourish 2, Funky Heart, a gorgeous little Kite & my last leftover piece of Barbed Wire

Here is a looksie at the sketch....

And now for some close ups :)

My small cluster with 2 pieces of 2crafty...the small flourish & funky heart.

The 2crafty kite & the barbed wire right at the top.

I've added some journaling on the little pull out tag...and there is a a Flair button that I won on a blog hop from Marcia Pringle :)

I can't remember the last time I did a layout on white cardstock....but I quite like the results.
I think this would have to be one of my most favourite colour combos <3
& I had a heap of fun with the textured background too.

Thanks so much for dropping by today :)
Have a great day/night....xx

Keeping the Best - Sketch #51

Wooohoooo...finally I have some scrapping I can share :) :) :)
I have been scrapping up a storm this week, but this is the first one I can share.  Now that I have all of next months DT commitments out of the way, I can finally do a challenge or 2.

Just one for today though....for sketch #51 at Keeping the Best

Here is what I've come up with.....

Using some fabulous 7Gypsies "Postale" papers that I bought forever ago from Paper Stories in a kit...some 2crafty chipboard pieces & a few other bits n' bobs.

This is the fabulous sketch

And now for some close ups :)

I love this piece of 2crafty chipboard...I think I could use a piece on just about every outdoorsy type of layout I create.  It's the Summer Leaf Stems...and comes in a pack of 3 different sizes.
Oooops...just noticed that the glue under the red button isn't dry yet...I think I must have been super keen to get my layout up!

The 2crafty piece under the photo is actually a scrap piece that I cut from Ornate Fence for a layout a few months ago....as you can see, I never throw anything out! :)

Tucked in under the photo is a piece of the Bracket Frames...that I've cut in half & used the other piece on the opposite side of the photo (as you can see in the photo below)

And finally...my journaling :)
I LOVE it when a sketch allows for lots of journaling!

Well that's all for now folks
Thanks so much for dropping by...xx
