Guest designing for The Scrapbook Store - September sketch challenge

Hi everyone....wow, it's September already!!  Time is flying by, and I sure do hope the next 4 weeks fly just as quickly...lol.  Remember in my last post I said I had some news to share?....well, here it is....

Suzanne from The Scrapbook Store asked me if I'd be interested in doing a month of Guest Designing, and seeings I won't be around for October, and I have a few things happening when I get back, that only left September....and even though it is going to be a super duper busy month for me, do you think I could say no?!?  Of course not!!! lol

So, Suzanne has sent me a stack of FabScrap goodies in my GDT kit, so I will be sharing as many projects as I can fit in over the next few weeks.  For now though, here is my take on the September sketch....created by the very talented (not only with creating sketches, but her scrap work is amazing too!) Melinda Spinks.

So here is my take on it....using Studio Calico papers - Classic Calico 3, from my stash, but available in TSS HERE

My pics are from our trip earlier this year to The Great Ocean Road.
Loch Ard Gorge has such an amazing story to it, starting with a ship wreck back in 1878....I have journaled a heap more on the back of my layout to tell the story - you can see HERE where I got the info from for my journaling (it's a great read if you're interested in that kind of thing)

So here is this months sketch

September 2013 Sketch Competition

And now for some close ups....

My cluster....using a few different flowers - Green Tara, Kaisercraft & Prima...along with some DieNamites die cut leaves & branches, as well as a handmade fabric button....and a little camera using my $2 Typo stamp :D

Some basic journaling to fit in with the sketch...and more detailed journaling is on the back of my layout.

A few very old brads from my stash...not sure what brand they are, as well as some gyprockers tape tucked in to the side of the Studio Calico PP.

And my title

For the background I first used CW Chickenwire template with my "mint" Gelato, applied with a foam ink blending tool.  Then I did some random stamping using Kaisercraft "Crackle" stamp & a "Chocolate" Gelato (hmmm....Chocolate & mint...YUM)...which gives a very subtle effect compared to inks.  Then to finish off, I used CW Tile Texture template with texture paste & some Mr Huey's "Pumpkin Spice" mixed through it to give a colour that matches in with the sand & rocks of the photos....oh and there's a few flicks & splatters of TA Burlap Simply Sheer mist in there as well.

If you feel like joining in on this months sketch, upload your layout HERE by 30th September to be in the running for a $40 store voucher at The Scrapbook Store, with free postage!....and it is a random drawer, so anyone can win!  Looking forward to seeing your take on this sketch :)

Until next time, take care...xxx
