Addicted...

I just love the challenge over at KIU this month...to use mist techniques on kraft :)

Seeings that I managed to tie a few days off work, in with yesterday's public holiday, to give me a week & half off work (YAY)....I've spent the afternoon scrapping, and first on my list for this months challenges was the KIU challenge.

Here is what I came up with using Basic Grey "Clippings" that I bought as a kit from Paper Stories - I am loving this range!

The background masking didn't quite turn out like I had wanted - It kinda spread too far...lol.
I've had this happen to me a few times....maybe I need to mark out where I'm going to mask before actually doing it or something...any tips???
Then I've randomly misted with a few different mists to try and give it a grungy type effect & to make the gesso masking not look so plain & so white.

In my cluster I've used some 2crafty - chipboard cogs - gesso'd & then simply inked.
And there's also a gorgeous Lil' Red Rocket vintage tag that went so well with the theme of my layout.  Loving those alpha's too - Studio Calico - countryside printed chipboard alpha's <3

And the reason behind the Addicted title....because my DH is totally obsessed with cycling!  He even admits that he is addicted!  To ride over 100km on a Sunday morning is just like a stroll in the park to him...lol.  He even takes his bike on the back of his truck & rides whenever he gets a chance ...especially if there's holdups etc.

Another piece of 2crafty chipboard cog - cut from the same piece in the main cluster.
No point wasting it in behind where it's not going to be seen!

And some more Lil' Red Rocket goodness...some grey & white bakers twine wrapped around the photo matt.

And some stickers from the Clippings sticker sheet.

So, that's all from me for now....who knows when I'll be back to share some more creations.
Hopefully the mojo will stay with me and it won't be too long.

Take care...and thanks for dropping by! xx

I absolutely LOVE everything about this layout Linda! I think the background is brilliant! :) When I want to mask a small area I'll use post-it notes to cover the area I don't want to mask.

Thanks for the great tip you left on my tutorial post! Never thought of that before!! Ping!!! Now this is a fantastic manly page! As for how to avoid it spreading out too far - I usually make up my central cluster then lay it unadhered onto my layout then mark very small, light pencil marks indicating where I want my masking to end (usually at least an inch or two within the edge) but that's just my own weird idea LOL!

Linda what a fabulous layout this is. I just LOVE the Clippings range from Basic Grey and you have really done wonders with it! The fine spray of different coloured mists over the masking looks amazing! LOVE this so much!

I usually arrange my layout on my background before I mist or add other mediums so that I have a better idea of exactly where and how much medium I would like. This often involves some light lead pencil outlining my clusters/photo placement etc which will be hidden when I glue everything down. It also has been known to involve a digi photo so I can put it all back together afterwards without too much drama because I dont have a great memory! Too much trouble and work? Yes, probably :) but I find it helps my finished product. I'm not the kind of scrapper who is all said and done within half an hour.

But back to that gorgeous layout! Just stunning!

Yes, Linda I do the same as Kim...if you're not happy with your results, it's certainly worth going to the extra trouble. In having said that, I love your layout...great work!
